What can a brand learn when someone scans a product?
Aggregate signals only: how many scans a product receives, the coarse region, where in the lifecycle the scan happens, and which sections of the passport are opened. Care, repair and recycling lookups indicate intent that purchase data never captures. No individual is identified or profiled.
The constraint is architectural rather than a policy setting. The public tier resolves without authentication, so there is no account to attach behaviour to — which is also why the data is usable in jurisdictions where behavioural tracking is not.

Does scan analytics identify the person scanning?
No. The public tier of a passport requires no account and no identification, and CirculeID does not build a profile of the reader. What is reported is aggregate: how many scans, roughly where, on what kind of product, and which sections of the passport were opened.
What can you actually learn from a scan?
Which products are scanned and how often, the coarse region, the point in the lifecycle — at shelf, after purchase, years later — and which parts of the record people open. That last signal is the useful one: repair and recycling lookups indicate intent that no purchase data captures.
Why does this matter commercially?
Because for most manufacturers the relationship ends at the till. A scannable product is the first channel that reaches an owner without an app, an account or a purchase record — and a person looking up how to repair something is telling you they intend to keep it rather than replace it.
Can we run campaigns off it?
You can surface content in the passport — care guidance, registration, a take-back offer — and see in aggregate what people engage with. What you cannot do is target an individual, because the platform does not hold an individual to target. That constraint is deliberate and not configurable.
