What can you learn from Digital Product Passport data?

Passport data answers questions at product level: which lines carry the most embedded carbon, which suppliers drive it, which products meet recycled-content thresholds, how long items last, what share is repaired or recovered, and what people look at after scanning a product in the field.

Footprint figures still come from your carbon accounting system, calculated under CSRD-acceptable methodology. What changes is that the figure is attached to the product it belongs to, with the evidence behind it, instead of being aggregated away.

What can passport data answer that our existing reporting cannot?

Anything that varies by product rather than by company. A corporate footprint figure cannot tell you which product line carries the emissions, which supplier drives them, or which SKU fails a recycled-content threshold. Passport data is per product by construction, so those questions become queries rather than projects.

Does this replace our carbon accounting system?

No. Your carbon accounting system calculates footprints under a recognised methodology such as the GHG Protocol or ISO 14067. CirculeID holds the resulting figures against the products they belong to, with their evidence, so the calculation and the product record stay in the systems best suited to each.

What does consumer scan data actually tell us?

Which products are scanned, where, when, and what people look at once the passport opens — care, repair, provenance or recycling. It is aggregate rather than individual: the public tier requires no account, and CirculeID does not build a profile of the person scanning.

Can we measure circularity performance from this?

The inputs ISO 59020 asks for — recycled content, product lifetime, reuse, repair and recovery rates — are all product-level facts that a passport programme generates as a by-product. That is usually the first time an organisation can compute them from records rather than estimate them.

Is any of this predictive?

We do not claim prediction. What the platform provides is a complete, attributable record of what happened, at product level, which is the thing forecasting has always been missing in this domain. Modelling on top of it is possible, and is better done in your own tools with your own assumptions.
